From Summer Session #2_Mark Heng

I'm posting all the drawing from the evening just to give a flavor of the variety and number of poses.  That's a decent amount of drawing in 2 hours!

Limerick Figure Drawing Society- New Location!

Hi Everyone,

Good news-  Marie-Clare approached the nice folk at Raggle Taggle Studios and Gallery about using their space on Monday nights, and YES, we can schedule sessions there!
For use of the space, they want 2 euro per person each session.  It's a great deal and we won't have to deal with rent, ESB bills, etc...
Raggle Taggle is located very near the corner of Sarsfield and Henry St. in the old National Bank building.

I discussed the Summer sessions schedule with Marie-Clare and we decided upon a 6 week block from June 25th to July 30th.
Monday nights, 7:30-9:30.

The cost would be 60 euro (10 euro per session for 6 sessions) for new members (people who weren't members for the first 10 week block this year) and guests.
The remainder of the cost of the model will be evenly split between the remaining members.

The 2 euro per session will be paid directly to Raggle Taggle on each night.  There is a slush fund that could go towards the first few weeks for that.

We'll take August off and start up again in mid September for a 10 week block.

Please let me know if you want to sign up for the summer block.  And tell your friends- I'd like at least 10 people signed up!

New Spring Sessions

We've managed to organize space through Creative Limerick (Thanks, Marie-Claire!), and we have about 8 people committed for 10 two hour sessions for 100 euro.

You're more than welcome to join.  There's room for about 12-14 in the space and the more people we get, the lower the cost will be for everyone.

Please contact Mark Heng at MarkHeng3000@gmail.com for more info.

John Raynes Figure Drawing Demo

It's always good to review the basics, and John Raynes is definitely more qualified than most.  He has a book from 2007 called "Complete Anatomy and Figure Drawing" which I found so clear and useful, I bought myself a copy.  I believe you might find a copy at O'Mahoney's if you're in Limerick.

Ever get stuck with the details?

Check out this post from James Gurney's blog...Basically making the point about the danger of going into detailed contour drawing before setting up the big shapes.  Very cool.

It's extremely easy to lose sense of proportion and alignment when focusing on the wee details...I find myself doing it all the time, especially with faces!

Limerick Drink and Draw

Hey, why doesn't Limerick have one of these?
http://drinkdrawcork.blogspot.com/

They meet every couple of weeks in a pub to...uh...drink and draw.  Pretty cool.

All we'd need to do is choose a pub and a night.
Give us your suggestions in the comments!
