By the way...

...members will be able to post their drawings on this blog.  Just let me know if you'd like to sign up!

So, why bother drawing from the model every week?
Well, here's a list off the top of my head:

  • Drawing the human figure is challenging! Ten weeks just isn't enough.  In fact, 10 months wouldn't be enough!
  • The model is a great source of inspiration.  I'm always amazed at how different the actual pose looks compared to my expectations.
  • Figure drawing is fun!  Better than sitting at home drawing apples, eh?  I feel like I've had a bit of a workout after each session and I feel better afterward.
  • The buzz carries on throughout the week and I think my other work is better for it.
So come on and sign up!  We can make this happen!

Getting started!

Welcome to the Limerick Figure Drawing Blog!

It's my hope that we can organize an affordable weekly drawing session in Limerick.
This should be a nonprofit organization with only the model and location getting paid.  Each member will have the chance to run a session as they see fit.

I propose a two hour session on Monday or Tuesdays, running from January to May, then September to November.

We're still looking into a location, possibly the Limerick Printmakers Studio.  If anyone has any ideas, please post them in the comments section!

Also welcome are any suggestions on how to run it and to sign up for membership.
