Ever get stuck with the details?

Check out this post from James Gurney's blog...Basically making the point about the danger of going into detailed contour drawing before setting up the big shapes.  Very cool.

It's extremely easy to lose sense of proportion and alignment when focusing on the wee details...I find myself doing it all the time, especially with faces!

useful..ok...
but what i find much much more interesting is that in your drawing, the extra attention to certain details records where your eyes have looked or been drawn to more, sharing the artists experience of looking/seeing with the viewer of the drawing...

musing here:
boots are going to be a different experience that persons :-)

and... proportion and alignment to artists two eyes in moving head over a period of time or,.... as might be viewed through a camera lens in one second??
